What is this activity?
Explore how others may experience your behaviour by imagining their perspective.
Preparation
Ask participants to think of a recent interaction with a customer, colleague or stakeholder. Provide paper or a shared board.
How to run it
- 1Recall one specific recent interaction.
- 2Briefly describe what happened.
- 3Choose three words you think the other person would use to describe you and the interaction.
- 4Share your three words with a partner and explain your choices.
- 5Discuss what you might do differently to shape a more positive impression.
Example in Action
You're teaching self-awareness or how to build stronger relationships. Ask participants to recall a recent interaction with a colleague, customer or stakeholder. They must choose three words they think the other person would use to describe them, such as confident, impatient, helpful. In pairs, they discuss why they chose those words and what they might do differently next time.
Make it your own
Adapt the topic, scenario or materials to suit your audience.
