What is this activity?

Create and tell an imaginative story by connecting pictures selected from a collection.

Preparation

Provide a varied collection of unrelated images featuring people, places, objects and unusual situations. Spread them out or display a gallery.

How to run it

  1. 1Invite each participant to select three to five pictures from the collection.
  2. 2Give them five minutes to invent a story connecting their chosen pictures.
  3. 3Ask participants to tell their stories in pairs or small groups.
  4. 4Discuss what made the stories engaging, surprising or memorable.

Example in Action

Spread 15 unrelated pictures across a table, including a bicycle, an astronaut, a dog, a mountain and a broken umbrella. Ask participants to select four pictures and invent a story connecting them. One person might tell a story about an astronaut who cycles up a mountain to rescue a dog. They share their stories and reflect on what made them memorable.

Make it your own
