What is this activity?

Use an everyday object to make an abstract concept memorable.

Preparation

Ask participants to find a nearby object; no specialist materials needed.

How to run it

  1. 1Give participants a concept or prompt.
  2. 2Ask them to select an object that represents it.
  3. 3Each person explains the connection in 60–90 seconds.
  4. 4Peers share what the analogy helped them understand.

Example in Action

You're teaching communication skills. Ask everyone to find an everyday object that represents good communication. Someone chooses a torch because communication creates clarity. Another chooses a key because the right words can unlock difficult conversations. Each participant has 60 seconds to explain their choice.

Make it your own

Adapt the topic, scenario or materials to suit your audience.
